After a great first round with close contests, the DAFA League heads into round 2 this weekend with some reinforcements coming to all three teams.
After the Wombats lost their first two games, they are hopeful of notching their first win with some tall timber returning to the lineup in Arnout Brokking, as well as the boy from Wang – Dan Lewis – to provide some forward thrusts from the midfield.
The Devils will see Captain Kolman take charge from the half-back line as well as their midfield dynamo Daan van der Putten, and are confident of putting some heat onto the current leaders, Den Haag.
Finally, the Storks will be firing from all cylinders with Michel van Eijk lining up for his first appearance of the league to try and consolidate their leading position.
Round one saw the Ooievaars beating the Amsterdam Devils by 15 points and the Wombats by 10 points. The Devils then redeemed themselves by beating the Wombats by 10 points.
Nick ‘Ned’ Moran of the Ooievaars kicked 8 goals for the day, closely followed in the Golden Clog goal kicking award by Nick ‘Swirl’ Bennett. JJ Farrell was among the best of the day, while Bill Johnstein and Zach O’Brien are leading the Kattenberg award for leading point kicker.

The Amsterdam Devils, in cooperation with AFL Europe, will host the inaugural Champions League
Australian Rules Football Tournament in Amsterdam on Saturday, March 21 at Sportspark de Eendracht. The tournament will see the best European Australian Football club teams compete for the title of European club champions.
The Netherlands will be represented by the Amsterdam Devils. The Devils will go head-to-head with 13 other teams from all around Europe who will travel to Amsterdam for a one-day tournament to decide who can call themselves “the best of Europe”. The teams will compete against each other according to the 9-a-side format commonly used in the European Cup when national teams compete against each other. It will be an excellent day for Australian expats to celebrate this great Australian sport with the people of the Netherlands.
“We’re excited to not only host the inaugural Champions League, but to also compete against the best of Europe in what should be an extremely hard-fought tournament. As Australian Rules Football continues to grow in popularity in Europe, this a great step forward for the sport. Our boys are tough, fit and ready for the challenge,” said Nick Bennett, coach of the Amsterdam Devils.
Australian Rules Football is considered Australia’s national sport and consists of a dynamic mixture between rugby and soccer. It is physically and mentally tough and is exciting to watch for spectators.

Season 2015 has a lot in store for DAFA members!! Pre-season training has commenced at the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. Training sessions are at the regular 7pm timeslot every Thursday, and Saturdays at 10am. With only nine weeks to go before our first competitive international match we need to make the most of it, so make sure you come down!
Below is a location map to show the exact gathering point in the Vondelpark (near the PC Hoofstraat entrance).
If you come from outside of Amsterdam and don’t want to pay 4 euros an hour for parking your car, there are several park & ride options that you might want to consider:
General information: http://www.parkeren-amsterdam.com/pr-transferium
The P&R that is possible the easiest option is: http://www.parkeren-amsterdam.com/pr-olympisch-stadion, From there you can easily grab tram 16 or 24. Get off at Museumplein and walk the last 4 minutes to the location (see attachment how to walk the last part). When you grab the tram from one of the P&R, parking costs only 1 euro for 24 hours.
