The Flying Dutchman will therefore take on a team of Expats at the VVV cricket ground in Amsterdam. Make sure you’re a part of the national squad’s EU Cup build-up!
We’ll also hold a national training day at The Hague on Sept. 3 with some media coverage as the Flying Dutchman aim to take out the championship trophy this time round.
The DAFA grand final is still planned for Sept. 17 in Amsterdam with The Hague Vs The Rest.
Wearing their current national jumper, the Flying Dutchmen have been back-to-back runners-up in the EU Cup in 2009 and 2010 following their 9th placing in the 2008 championship — a tremendous achievement.
The jumper has been worn with great enthusiasm, guts and pride, but after four years of service the DAFA has now decided it was time for a new, refreshing design.
Following a poll among playing and non-playing DAFA members, the design pictured here to the right has been selected in August 2011 as the new national jumper.
The Flying Dutchmen will wear the the new jumper for the first time at the 2011 EU Cup in Belfast in October.
In a match that saw the return of Utrecht dynamo Marnix de Groot following injury in the EU Cup last year and the return of Michel van Eijk, Amsterdam romped away from Den Haag to record a stunning 83 point victory.
Played on July 2 in Den Haag, it was again the second quarter which set the Amsterdam team up for victory as they kicked eight goals to three to take the lead and head into the second-half with their tails up.
The Devils were then unstoppable in the second-half, pouring on the pressure in the third quarter before easing back in the fourth.

Den Haag travelled to Amsterdam, keen to avenge their 55 point defeat in the opening round and notch their first win of the year in a match played under a blazing, heat-blistering afternoon sun.
Played on June 4 at Amsterdam’s home pitch, the VVV cricket ground, the opening two quarters saw both teams evenly matched, as the lead swung back and forth. Poor kicking from Amsterdam also helped keep Den Haag in the match.
In the the third quarter, often described as the premiership quarter, neither Den Haag nor Amsterdam could gain the upper hand and scores were tied heading into the last term. But as the heat took its toll and with Den Haag’s line-up depleted by an injury, Amsterdam kicked away with five goals to one in the final term.
The day was sealed with a taste of Alfie’s Pies and drinks on the terrace.

The 2011 Dutch Australian Football season kicked off Saturday May 14 in Ooievaar territory.
In a match that was tightly contested, Den Haag took an early lead in the first quarter before Amsterdam rallied with a 9 goal second term. Den Haag pegged the margin back in the third and fourth quarters, but was unable to make significant inroads into Amsterdam’s lead despite outscoring the Devils in the second-half.
In the end, the second quarter blast from Amsterdam proved to be the deciciding factor as the Devils won by a convincing 55 points on a warn spring afternoon in Den Haag.
The day was topped off by a BBQ and drinks hosted by Den Haag.
